I'll start us off with a portrait of my father-in-law done Thanksgiving day.

Done with a 13" f4 Achromatic Meniscus no-name lens @ about f8 on the 8X10 2D.

That is a simply wonderful image that exemplifies the sort of deeply personal care and emotion that the best of portraiture should evoke. Now if only you had some decent lenses to work with.

Jim, Your F-I-L portrait really touches my heart. It reminds me very much of the last portrait I took of my Dad, about 18 months ago. But I hate to say it... I hate it. It brings tears to my eyes because I see the mutual love and respect, but there isn't a single point of focus and I'm left rubbing my eyes wondering when the fog bank will lift. (and I even like soft focus) Next time, get closer. He's a handsome man... much more handsome than the swirlies in the empty background. Maybe I'd like it more if cropped to a "two-button"??

perfect timing...i got portraits! many are still drying but here are a few for now.

voigtlander 7b. 8x10 foma 100 pyro. ilford warmtone rc

i really love this monster lens. i have been trying to get the feel of my new-to-me cooke and decided to take a break and play with my old voigtlander.....what a pleasure it is. nothing to figure out.....i just fell into some of my best work! (i sure hope i have desires to use the cooke now!)

Most fotogs hate to be on the wrong side of the lens, but I would really want top shoot Al super tight if he'll sit still, he has a great face for it! It would make a great big print with lots of detail. (forgive me eddie, I cropped your frame to how I would want to shoot a sheet or two on this guy)

Most fotogs hate to be on the wrong side of the lens, but I would really want top shoot Al super tight if he'll sit still, he has a great face for it! yeah, al is a good one to shoot. maybe i will get him back over and tie him to the chair....he was not too excited about sitting as it was......he is talking about shaving after he plays santa.....

Definitely NOT shaving, just a trim. I am a little too self-conscious for too many pictures, but Eddie helps take the fear out of it, and maybe I can learn how to make someone else relax on that side of the lens for me. So much to learn...
