I have not been able to take decent images of birds for the last couple of years. Ever since I had my Nikon D2x converted to infrared. My D700 and D800 full frame cameras just did not have the reach needed with the lenses I have. Well, I just rectified that. I purchased a used Nikon D300 for a very reasonable price from KEH.com. I paid just $339.00 for an EX+ graded body. That included free shipping. This gives me the reach I have been missing. I plan on using the D300 for the next year, until the newly introduced D500 has proven itself. I will then purchase a new D500, and have the D300 converted to infrared. I will then sell the D2x.
Anyway here are the images:

Thanks Jeff, your first two are a couple of my favorite fighters. That and the P-80! Here is another great looking plane.

My Dad spent a lot of time in a F-86 when I was a little kid - also a favorite of mine. Here is a Lockheed D-21 unmanned reconnaissance drone. The nasty thing is 42' long, with a 20' wing span, and flies at speeds in excess of Mach 3. Again, my aging Nikkor 85/1.4 - I love this glass.
