Tested a Graphic-Kowa 1:9 / 305mm mounted on my Eastman View Camera No. 2 8x10. Anyone have any experience with this lens ?
Just a quick shot to assess what this lens may be like for soft focus portraits. Image was a little overexposed as the lens came off a graphic copy system I believe but I got it for next to nothing and mounted it on a makeshift lens board with no shutter so I manually used a lens cap as a shutter. I had to play with the image level a bit after scanning which I don't normally do. Will have to experiment a little more with this lens.

It's not a soft focus lens, although maybe it can be made into one by changing the spacing of the cells.

A new decade, a new silver bath!
Today I got to make a few test plates with my new silver bath - the one I just retired was choked with alcohol and iodides/bromides. Its been treated to remove impurities, but it will need silver nitrate added to restore it to fully usable, so I have to wait for more AgNO3 to arrive.
So, this is a 5x7 negative made with the Voigtlander Petzval lens, no Waterhouse stops used. Exposure was 7 minutes at f3.2 using Quinn's negative collodion recipe, which I must admit works very well, and doesn't go funky nearly as fast as Coffer's #7 for negs.

Paul, that turned out really well!

Spectacular, both. And Timeshare, a nice image with tones that make us think of illustrations from a century ago. I'm humbled and honored to have my name associated with this thread.
Today was my last day at work, I'm officially retired. So no excuses for me, I need to get busy on some images.
