90mm lenses for use with Wista DX??

I'm a beginner to LF photography, I previously shot a Mamiya 7ii for interiors - using a 50mm or 43mm lens and have recently managed to buy a relatively cheap Wista Cherrywood DX to move into LF. I'm looking for an equivalent to my Mamiya set up and am currently looking at 90mm lenses. Can anyone recommend a good 90mm for often low light interiors? I have the opportunity to purchase a 90mm f6.8 Schneider Super Angulon Classic at a good price.

Would this work with my Wista and would it be suitable for my needs? If not maybe someone could recommend something better?

    Any help much appreciated!!

The best 90's for interiors will be the Rodenstok ,Schneider, Nikon, or Fuji lenses with a maximum aperture of 4.5 or 5.6. They have the largest image circles for movement and are easiest to focus in less that bright rooms. Both of these properties are important for 4X5 photography in interiors. The Nikon 90/8 has the same image circle as those mentioned above but is harder to focus with.

I am pretty sure that any of these lenses will work with your Wista.

I would not try to use the 90/6.8 Angulon for movements as the image circle is too small. It would be fine otherwise. The 90/8 SUPER Angulon would work.

Thanks. I was thinking more about the 90/6.8 Super Angulon here..

I've got a Wista DX and I use a 90mm S.A. from time to time with no problems. I can also "jam" a 65mm S.A. onto the front of the camera but it's too tight for much movement.

I use a 90mm SA f.8 on my DX in a recessed lens board. I would not like to try the larger f.5.6 version. Without the recessed board, movements get limited. With it, however, I can vignette the f.8.

Hope that helps a bit in your selection.

Thanks for all the info everyone. Why would you not consider the 5.6 Doremus?

When I used a Wista DX I regularly used a 90mm f5.6 Super Angulon. It worked just fine with the standard bellows. I'm not sure whether the 90mm XL would fit though.

Hi David- Is the 90mm 5.6 Super Angulon not the XL? What is the difference?

The Super Angulon f5.6 90mm works fine with a Wista 54DX on a standard board, like others have said. I've not needed to use a recessed board with any of my lenses, 65mm, 75mm & 90mm.
