    Jobo 4x5 Film Guides

    Hi,

The 4x5 Jobo film processor (not expert drum), can be used with the additional film guides. Are these to be kept in during processing?

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Re: Jobo 4x5 Film Guides

    Hi Martin,

Are you talking about "film loader guides", as described here, or about reel "flaps", as seen here?

The film loader guide is used only for loading film onto the reel, and is removed before processing.

The reel "flaps", i.e. reel guides are fitted before putting the reel into the tank/drum, and are placed into the tank/drum together with the reel. Their function is to improve the flow of chemistry during processing, thus avoiding possible developing defects due to uneven flow of chemistry.

So, if it's the "flaps" you're asking about, then yes - those should be kept fitted on the reel during procesing.
