    Wista VX: rear movements

Can someone tell me whether or not the Wista VX offers rear swing? (Or better ye t, what rear movements it does offer.) I seen some conflicting information on th e web and would like an unequivocal answer. (If one exists). If there is no rear swing, can this be compensated for by front swing and tripod movement?

    Thanks for your help, s.

Yes all Wista Technical cameras have rear swing. The VX does not have the micro swing knob however.

If you have further question s and are in the US you can call dan Gray, the Wista Product manager, at 800 735 4373. He is out of the office until next week..

Rear swings and tilts do 2 things:

1: change/control image shape 2: control the plane of focus

Front swings and tilts only control the focus plane and do not change image shape so no, front movements do not compensate for the lack of rear ones (except for rise/fall/shift).

In a camera with the right combination of movements, front swing could compensate for lack of rear swing. For example, by applying front swing and rear shift (if you had it) you could duplicate the lens/film plane relationship you would get from rear swing alone. (Although such a combination of movements would be unusual--more likely would be rear swing, no front swing, and front shift.) Such indirect movements were SOP for many classic cameras (e.g., Koronas, Kodak 2ds). Probably the most typical example would be duplicating front tilt--which those cameras lack--by combining front rise and rear tilt (and pointing the camera bed downward).

Thank you both. Exactly what I was looking for. And thanks for clearing up some of my lingering confusion over camera movement.
