Does anyone know anything about Prinz Brand Field Cameras? Thanks, Mike.

    Re: Prinz View Camera Question

I think Prinz was a house brand for one of the big mail-order photo houses, possibly Spiratone, or 47th Street Photo. It is probably a Japanese or Indian made camera.

    Re: Prinz View Camera Question

If I recall correctly, it was an India-manufactured knockoff of a Deardorff, manufactured by Rajah. I had one in the used camera department way back when I worked at Photomart in Phoenix (which was nearly 25 years ago!). My memory of it is that it was sturdily made, but a bit clunky and heavy. The one we had was an 8x10.

    Re: Prinz View Camera Question

Hey everyone, I bought the PrinzDorf the other day. It is a 4x5 and very well built with all the movements (like new). It is indeed a clone/copy of a deardorf. I got the camera, two lenses on shutters, plus 7 film holders for 200.00. The first lens is a 9 1/2 Wollensak Series II Velostigmat on a Betax Shutter and lens two is a Paragon 6 1/2" on an Ilex shutter. Thanks for everyones input, Mike C.

Whatever you do, don't get rid of the Velostigmat. Or of you DO, call me first.
