    Interview with Kim Weston

I recently did an interview with Kim Weston and thought it may be of interest to some people. Kim is a wonderful fine art photographer of the human form and is the grandson of Edward Weston and the nephew of Brett Weston. He was wonderful to talk to and spoke very openly about his work, his famous family and photography in general.

After the interview he also gave me a tour of not only his darkroom but that of Edward Weston's darkroom and home as well. If you'd like to check out the interview here is a link to it.

As did I. It's not often that there is some new insight into his (Brett's) thinking or style.

That was one of the most interesting aspects of speaking with Kim, his relationship with Brett, much better than his relationship with his father Cole. Its obvious Kim and Brett were very close and he saw him, actually continues to see him, as a father figure and role model for his inner artist.

Coincidently, I received a beautiful print from Kim today, a product of this year.

He has done an excellent job of finding his own voice, not an easy task given the early influences that surrounded him. Brett often spoke fondly of him, obviously a feeling that was shared. Kim was fortunate to have such an example of pure dedication and passion, while understanding the shortcomings. Nothing stood between Brett and his photography.

    Thanks for sharing the interview.
