LF friendly, B&W photo club in Montreal

Photo Club AREMAC, in St Lambert (south shore of Montreal) is beginning its 35th season this fall. This photo club is mostly dedicated to B&W photography. Actual techiques used includes silver gelatine and digital, but also older techniques like cyanotype or albumine. We try to be as non competitive and as fine art oriented as possible. Meetings (in French) are held very Tuesday at 19:30 in local 206, St Michel centre, 31 Lorne Street, St Lambert. Annual membership costs 75$ and includes an unlimited access to the well equiped community darkroom, that handles 35 mm up to 4x5. Some people use the darkroom and don't attend meetings: that's OK too.

I'm sure you can join, but won't be contributing much to the discussions . The darkroom is probably multilingual.

Well, Andrew, you must realize that the south shore of Montreal is about 90% francophone. You'll probably find more Chinese speaking than English speaking folks in the vicinity, and most Anglos are fluent in French. We actually have a few Anglo members, but they understand that the meetings are held in the majority language.

We had a couple of English language meetings in the last few years, when we had Bruce Barlow and the late Ted Harris as guest speakers. Even then, I had to translate much of them, as some members don't speak much English. But of course, no one cares what language you use in the darkroom.

Are these meetings still happening. I have been out of the darkroom for a long long time and would love to get back into silver gelatin printing.
