sorry about the weird colour casts on the print - the original print isn't like that at all.

Thanks Gary. I finally got to the other sheet I shot, with the lens at f/5.6 instead. I like the full soft-focus look in this image instead of the more vintage but still relatively sharp image posted before. This soft-focus look is what I was going for, as a personal reflection on Yosemite and the romanticized vision I had of the park taken from viewing the many famous photographs taken by Adams and others. It was exhilarating to visit the park and see/experience these famous places and reflect on this landscape, especially in comparison to our landscape here in GA.

    Rocky Mtn Park 1992 4x5 Norma 90 f8 SA HP5 by Nokton48, on Flickr

The stream was ice cold. I balanced on a slippery wet log to set up 4x5 Norma with 90mm Norma SA lens. Dropped a film holder into the stream, almost ended up in the stream myself. HP5 D76 1:1. Had to throw the film holder away, drat.

Hadn't been to this location in years. There used to be a nice tree log at the bottom of this part of the falls, which had been there for many, many years, but it apparently finally washed down the creek. Would've been interested to see that flowrate when it happened! Look up the falls on Google and you'll see every photo has the log in it.

I also tried a new filter on this shot, a Moment CineBloom 20% diffusion filter. Been wanting to try one of these for a while and finally got one. I like how it opens up the shadows and gives a little bit of bloom to the image. Kind of like a touch of soft focus. I ended up giving the image about one stop less exposure than I might've normally, which seemed to work perfectly with the diffusion filling in the shadows whilst retaining highlights and giving a bit more midrange contrast.
