    LF AND auto engines

Anybody had first hand experience shooting wide angle shots of auto engines (in automobile)? My D3 is fantastic but am looking for more detail.

    Problems: DOF and lighting.

    Trying to use a 57 with a 180.

    Thanks!

There are real experts out there so...; and, I wonder how painting with light would work? Tripod, night or darkened space, long exposures, experimentation....

Chrome-covered street rod motors? Strobe light from either side through silks for the chrome. Just enough front tilt to get the top of the engine sharp and then stop down. Avoid cars with front-hinged hoods.
