National Art School, Sydney, winter 2016. This was built in the 1840s from Sydney sandstone to serve as a prison. It was known as Darlinghurst Gaol until the early 20th century when the prisoners were moved to a more modern facility. It's been an art school since the 1920s.

One of the walls of the National Art School / Darlinghurst Gaol, Sydney, winter 2016.
The building behind the wall is part of the Supreme Court facility. The sandstone blocks were hand cut by prisoners and they would carve their individual mark on each one so the authorities could check when they had reached their quota. Once they achieved this they could get paid work outside the gaol. Some of these walls have been lowered since it became a college.
Michael, great stuff at Saint John's!
I'm having still having trouble getting my camera square with the far wall. Assuming I can see this on the ground glass, can I use rear swing to correct this -- i.e. without moving the whole tripod?

Michael,
Those are terrific photos!
