    Just kidding.

    I looked it up.

    Seems extreme these days.

I should make one for my 900 mm

    When I find time.

My Rochester Premo B 4x5 camera, made c.1902. I've also a couple of double plate holders. The shutter probably was a later (1910's) modification, as the B&L Volute shutters probably were not offered with these cameras.

    Custom Deardorff 8 x 10.

    Camera weighs 8 pound
    Bellows 20 inches

Camera was on it's death bed when it arrived. The finish could be taken off with a finger nail. The hard ware was a greenish black.

Here's my 5x7 Norma. Shown with the big 360mm Schneider Symmar with Norma automation which came from the Sinar factory. This setup is wicked quick to operate.

Given the fact that the camera was in such deplorable condition I guess I can understand the willingness to turn it into something it was never intended to be. Converting it to a 20" bellows camera is a good thing because as an engineer I cringe on materials removal to save weight. There are plenty of options available if weight is a dominant objective constantly reminding oneself that compromise is an art form unto itself. I am reminiscent of my Grandfather who used to say, "If you want to get the job done right, use the right tools".

How fun . . . and amazing. It's sheer artistry. I like the way that you thinned the base. Wow.

I saw something similar to this with an 8x10 Kodak Master camera, at a Swap Meet. It really helped bring the down weight.

I’ve been in Paris for the last two weeks making pictures. Hauled the Wehman over here with 50 sheets of film.
