Good on you! I think they would be fairly chuffed to get a fine piece of equipment like that.

Here's my new to me Rittreck View 5x7 field camera. I've put some work into it (I replaced the bellows, made a 5x7 back for it, and also an adapter that allows me to use all my lenses on both this camera and My Graphics), and posted a thread in the DIY forum about them. Here, I'll just place some images of the completed camera.

My widest lens for this camera, a 75mm f/8 Super Angulon, still reaches infinity focus, even though the adapter board necessitates that the lens rides about 1/2 inch further out from the camera. (By the way, this lens is one of those that came in the not-well-regarded Copal 00 shutter, but mine happens to be my most accurate LF shutter, and I have a Copal 0, 1, and 3, as well as two Seiko 0s.)

The camera has lots of movements: front rise, fall, swing, and tilt; rear swing, tilt, and shift.

And, finally, my 4x5 Graflock reducing back' which I bought from someone here in order to use either 4x5 holders, or -- more likely -- my 6x12 rollfilm back.

    Thanks, everyone!

I found a mechanical problem with it last night, which I describe in the DIY thread. But I don't see it (yet, anyway) as a frustration, but as a challenge. If I cannot find a way to piece together the parts I need from stock hardware items, I know two machinists, and hope one of them will be able to make what I need. I like to tinker; it makes the things I use more my own, which, for me anyway, makes using them more fun to use, which means I use them more often. If any of that makes sense.

I was able to fix it myself, and posted about it in the DIY forum thread!

Re: Show off your Large Format camera!

A couple weeks ago I took the plunge into LF photography. I've been shooting film since my high school photo class days in the late 90s. More recently I got into medium format when I purchased a Rolleiflex last year and have been having a lot of fun with that. My uncle is a photographer and shot LF professionally and as a fine artist for years, and so I always was curious to try LF myself. So a couple weeks ago I bought a 4x5 Wisner Expedition at B&H. The Expedition model is the same as their technical field model but is made of lighter weight material and weighs a couple pounds less. I haven't shot with it yet, as I'm still acquiring all the various lenses and gear that I will need. Later this month I will be at a family reunion with my uncle who is going to bring his Deardorff and give me some LF lessons. Here are some pics of the Wisner, including one taken next to a 5x7/4x5 Deardorff at B&H for comparison.

This is a 180mm lens that I'm going to return. I'm going to get a 150mm. I also picked up a 105mm for wide angle.

I have had a Wisner Technical for over fifteen years with no problems. I think you will like it.
