Re: Show off your Large Format camera!

Recently there was a thread discussing the Rollei Heidosmat and it's apparent "Xenotar" rebrand under Schneider's ownership. I happened to see one mounted already for a Speed so bought it to test.

I am going to do a 3-way comparison shoot with the 150mm f/2.8 Rollei Heidosmat, classic 150mm f/2.8 Schneider Xenotar, and 153mm f/2.5 Kodak Aero-Ektar, to see what objective and subjective differences can be seen. The Rollei cost me approximately 1/10th the typical price of a Xenotar, and the AE is somewhere in between, so should be interesting. Perhaps I'll even add in a 150mm Zeiss Tessar, 150mm APO Symmar, and 150mm APO Lanthar lenses to spice things up. Probably will cut down some green-sensitive x-ray film to use.

Shown with my Linhof Master Technika and "K-12" Army Signal Corp Speed Graphic. Oh and my 125mm Xenon to complete my aerial recon lens collection:

5x7/13x18cm Sinar Norma Camera with Sinar Norma 165mm F8 Super Angulon, 5x7 Bag Bellows, and TTL 5x7/13x18cm Sinarsix Meter.
Norma Cables Connect the Norma Shutter to the rear standard of the camera.

This is wickedly fast to operate for many reasons. Many times I have gotten commercial photos in fleeting light with Norma rigs.

By the way this was photographed in by studio by Broncolor Hazylight on a giant Matthews Stand.

Makiflex Pecoflex Adapter 1 by Nokton48, on Flickr

Today I am tuning up the Makiflex to Pecoflex Adapter, on Makiflex Auto Body #2. Getting ready to take this out.

I've put together a kit of mostly Xenars to fully utilize the cameras. The shortest usuable seems to be about 210mm, so that one, plus the 240mm Xenar, and the 360mm Tele-Xenar. All original Plaubel Makiflex Auto stuff.

This rig is fun to use. There are plenty of camera movements in the front, and it's intuitive to use. Need a tripod.

Will be shooting 9x9cm B&W on 9x12cm format sheet film.

Bellatrix is looking good here. I was informed by the factory that it's actually somewhat of a Version 2.0. I guess it has a number of upgrades over the original. I'm quite impressed with it so far.

Shot the photos with the Hy6 Mod 2 and the 80.2.8 Xenotar AFD on Ilford XP2.

Twenty five years ago I had a semi-permanent studio in my apartment. This is the Norma 8x10 rig I was using to create B&W portraiture.
