    Kodak 10" Wide Field Ektar

    Somewhat simple question:

I need to get some lens caps for mine - would someone with decent, accurate measuring devices give me the outer diameter for both the front & rear barrels? I'm going to look for something generic, and if all else fails go to SK Grimes.

    Thanks!

The front thread is Ser IX I believe, which will probably be easier to find than a slip-on cap, which are mostly metric sizes these days. B&H stocks Schneider and Kaiser caps, if you want to try them, but unless it's really quiet, they can be reluctant to call things up from stock, if you're not reasonably sure.

    Alec,

The outside diameter of the front barrel on the 10" WF Ektar is 3.547", the rear is 3.350", both +/- .001". Sorry, I don't have a metric dial caliper. David is correct, the front thread is series 9.

Since I have a lathe, I made my own lens caps. If you know someone with a lathe, caps are extremely easy to make and take very little time.

A lathe is almost as good as a darkroom - sometimes better.

Kaiser makes both of those sizes, and B&H has them in stock according to the website, so it's worth a look, but bring the lens. Caps are often a close fit. Fortunately, I still have the metal ones for my 10" WF Ektar.

I'm glad I looked that up, because the Kaiser caps are way less expensive than the larger Schneider caps I've bought recently.

Thanks, guys - this is immensely helpful! Stock caps are going to be way cheaper than going with SK Grimes; though I'm sure their work is wonderful....

Your cap doesn't have to be a perfect fit out of the box. If you err, err slightly on the large side, then if necessary just put a piece of tape on the inside of the cap to bring the size down. Works fine, I've done this with many lens caps.
