4x5 Nagaoka 150mm lens @F45. This is a scan of the darkroom print I made this morning. 1 minute contrast 0 and 9 seconds no filter. The roots are what originally drew me to this location 2 days earlier as me and the wife were out for a stroll. I came back to make a video and all the shots I had scouted changed including this one.

They definitely create an interesting texture and repeating pattern. I think the shadows from the other trees help accentuate that texture. What about the scene changed, since you had scouted it?

Wow, what a thread. Love trees, though I most often have contact with the urban kind. I have recently made an 8x10 pinhole camera specifically for the purpose of taking pictures of the trees in my neighborhood:

These are shot on my sizeable stock of outdated Kodak Polycontrast RC paper, processed in HC-110, scanned and reversed in computer.

I like the sense of time, Bill, that the blowing grass and tree branches gives your image. Sort of a natural soft-focus lens created temporally rather than optically. Nicely composed and balanced.

I actually saw it from the other direction. I got there at the same time of day but it just didn't look the same. I don't know if it was because it had rained the night before and the day I saw it it was dry.

Thanks, it was very windy that day so I thought I should try to enhance it.

Thanks Simon. It's a fun format, even if the camera is huge and cumbersome. Need to do another batch of 8x20 contact prints...

Thanks Andrew. I hit and miss with Portra 400, but when I hit there's something I really like about the way the film reproduces the scene. I guess the scenery and light at that time helped!!!
