Love the details. very sharp. Love the contrast of the trees against the cascades.

Love the second one, Tuco. The trees (drunken) remind me of AK, tho I'm aware that's a different terrain.

I really like the "drunken" trees too, especially their darker tonality against the brighter background. Pity the sky is totally blank, though it does offer a different feel to the image (desolation, perhaps forlorn).

Yeah some white would have been nice. I wish I would have tried another variation of the scene. But I was saving the few sheets I had remaining for the top of the pass seen between those drunk trees. And, as it turns out, in the hot afternoon there really wasn't much good up there. Once up the pass you can go even higher up to another peak that has great views. I didn't go there this trip though. I'd need to get in better shape. I haven't done much hiking this year. And summer looks to be over already in just one weekend, wtf.

Meanwhile, we are begging for summer to go away down here . We've had stifling heat in the past month or so, making hiking quite an endeavor, and even dangerous if not properly prepared.

I was at Toroweep, Grand Canyon North a couple weeks ago. The temperature on the lava trail can get to 160F+ It was generally in the 90's and low 100's in the day and down to the low 60's to high 50'S. And humid.
