One of my first images dedicated to trees on the 8x10. This was taken at the Wuyishan national park in Fujian province in China about two weeks ago.
I wanted to capture the morning fog lingering above the surface of the water, but the slow shutter speed allowed by my Fomapan 100 just made it into a low contrast blur without any details, a pity.
Shot on the Chamonix Alpinist X at 240mm on Fomapan 100, home developed in 1+25 ordinal then scanned on a flatbed.

Beano_z very nice image. The far shore almost seems like a stage, with those central trees lit via spotlight.

A fun change of pace, macro LF that's not strenuous for a change.
As you might imagine, the ponderosa bark is easy to print too. The peeling flakes make it look 3-D on the wall.
I've been away for a while, but I haven't forgotten large format. I had my Graphic View out a few weeks ago, and there was this little copse of tall trees...

Thanks guys for the kind comments. Actually it's not all what it seems, I was actually stupid enough to shift my 240mm lens over the limits of its image circle and ended up with a bit of hard vignette on the top. Don't even ask why I though shifting the lens would be appropriate for this scene....
As for the development, I usually do the 1+50 dilution but on this image I tried 1+25 with ADOX Rodnial for the first time. This one came out quite nice but another shot with the bland sky wasn't as smooth as I'd wished, so I think I'll be going back to 1+50 in thee future. The metering was very straightforward as I think the scene only had about 4 stops of DR, which is easy enough for Fomapan 100 to handle. I just do the usual brightest / darkest average on my spotmeter off the bright stones in the foreground and the dark wall in the back. The added contrast you see comes mostly from the scanning process as the original image was way flatter.
Ha, "Luck is the residue of design," as Branch Rickey once said.Certainly an evocative photograph--I suspect it would have a number of different emotional valences depending on your printing/toning approach or even changes in the aspect ratio.
