Focus point was "f/22 and be there" . The lens is on a helical and I have a marking for the focus point, as well as a little thing that attaches around the lens board and has the focus markings. But I hardly use it. Straight "up" is infinity, 45 degrees around the helical and stopped down to f/22 is "everything is in focus." If I have some really close-up stuff foreground I might go to 90 degrees. I had a loupe in my bag but didn't use it.

Very nice--I think your holding on to the far horizon, especially, makes the shot.

woods and branches composition on Ash Island, off Owls Head. The photograph is largely possible because I have used this lens a great deal and know how the background is going to work. Ground glass tells some, experience tells some. I have some of my characteristic layering of woods scenes with foreground, mid-range, and background all visible to some extent and having their place in the design of the photo. Silhouttes, downed trees and branches supply tone differences and composition. Sun was behind a cloud, so it's subdued and buttery soft, rather than radiant glowing.

There's a lot going on in that photo, Jason. I like.

I like the (cedar?) trees on that one jp. The juxtaposition of the detail and softness/glow is what attracts me to soft focus work.
