Grafmatic back repair

Is this possible? I have one, which may be enough. Everything is fine, but the springs inside that push the plenum to the back are gravity challenged. I've heard that if you bend them, they shatter. Any help would be appreciated.

Eric: I have a number of these, old and older. My experience is that you are risking a malfunction any time you cycle it without holding it upright. (And by upright I mean positioned as it would be on a camera back that just took a horizontal image at a reasonably level attitude.) Try holding your unloaded holder front down and cycle it through 20 or so cycles, then try the same thing on edge. I think you might see what I'm talking about.
