Direct fit in an Ilex/Acme #3 shutter?

Does anyone know of any 10?-14? barrel/process lenses that are a direct fit (i.e . just screw in - no machining necessary) in an Ilex/Acme #3 shutter? I?ve seen 12? Artars mounted in these shutter, but I?m not sure if they?re a direct fit f rom the barrel.

Direct fit in an Ilex/Acme #3 shutter?

Isn't this a rather risky method of choosing a lens?

And after a lens is mounted how will you properly calibrate the aperture scale?

Not if you know Steve Grimes it ain't!

    Ditto.

He asked about a direct fit. If he didn;t want a direct fit then he wouldn't need a repairman.

Grimes is well know for more than repair. Somehow labeling him a "repairman" seems less than complimentary.

Sorry I have none Steve since he ran the repair department at E Phillip Levine.

He does what we consider all competant mecanical camera repair people should be able do do. Fine mechanics.

Steve does an excellent job. But there are many other Fine mechanics in the photo industry who also do the same job.

Many don't want or have the time to do all the custom work that Steve does however.

Actually I know one whose final exam at the factory he was trained in included turning a hunk of glass into a saleable lens to be installed in a upper scale camera.

Generically all of them are referred to as Repaimen or Service men.

What would you suggest as a title?

Fine mechanic could just as easily be a wathe maker, typewriter repairman, etc.
