This is actually a half darkroom/half digital question about gravure interpositives.
I may be taking a workshop on photogravure this winter, and for a long list of reasons I would prefer (and perhaps actually need) to bring a scan, and perhaps also the interpositive from here, instead of making it there (in Mexico). The teacher says he prefers original negs, but is trying to "work out a good curve" in Photoshop, so that I might be able to use the scan.
So, my question is, does anyone have experience with making interpositives from scans (either output to Lightjet or even inket output onto clear, non-light sensitive media), and have any recommendations about tonal density and contrast range? Or does anyone know of good reading materials on the subject?
By the way, I have Gary Kolb's book on gravure that I got many years ago. Any opinions on using that book to prep myself ahead of the workshop?
As always, advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
