    Scratch on rear element

I have an Schneider-Kreuznach Tele-Xenar 5.5f 240mm lens. The rear element has a large scratch. Is the rear element made specifically for this lens focal length 240mm. Is there any place I could buy just the rear element?
    Thanks, Jacob

    Hello,

I guess you heard that before so take this just as another testimony for an old trick: light reaching that scratch will behave unpredictably. You can control the situation just killing it right there. Apply black ink on it, covering as little as you can of the surrounding good glass, and the lens will work with 99% of available light doing the same job as an unscratched lens.

Those lens elements and groups are matched at the factory. To mix them could be worse than using it as is.
