Transporting an epson 9600 printer ?

reading the complete manual, they don't mention how to pack the printer in case or transportation...

How can i block the heads... any suggestions ?

i will only put it in a break for 5 kilometers...

Without draining the lines, I moved my 7600 300 miles 1 1/2 years ago without any problems. You lock the head with the key provided with your printer. I believe that you can find instructions on Epson's website.

I just rolled it up the ramp on to the U-Haul truck, packed some foam around it, then rolled it off.

I wouldn't want to take responsibility for your situation, but I sold a 7600 and a 9600, locked the heads with the key, did NOT drain the inks. My buyers reported no problems after transporting the printers by car for hundreds of miles in each case.

    Good luck, Martin

locked the heads with the key ? a key ?

    i've found this :
"Incidentally, the built-in cutting blade holder also acts as print head locking mechanism. If you need to move the print head simply open the printer door, push on the built in blade cutting assembly and the head will be freed from its resting area. The built in cutter is easy to locate: it is the only spring-mounted device near the print head. It is located in front of the print head. Just push on it to release the head."
on this very informative page :

I may be using the wrong terminology in saying "key". I no longer have the manuals to look it up for you. The documentation with my 9800 refers to the "bolt and bracket" used to lock the carriage during shipping. See if you can find the instructions on unpacking the 9600; maybe it will be there. The best thing may be to call Epson. I have found them very helpful in the past.
