Hey Thomas. Sorry for my late reply. Well, I think is a number of factors.
First, the lens is super soft, and even with a DIY f/10 stop, is still showing softness.
Then, the caps/ f-stop might have some tiny light leak while taking the photo, which I doubt...but aso, I have no shutter in any of my lenses.
But I think the main factor here is the film itself. When it comes to edges, sharp and details, x-ray film delivers. But here, the background being so soft, even with long pre-wash and all, this has happened in other photos as well, where there is more softness.
Also, very hard sideways light in the evening, would be a factor.
Im glad you liked the photo. I might try some similar ones soon, since I think I have improved the general contrast and looks of the negatives with the exposure and developing times (mainly agitation and concentration)
