Thanks Ben. This one was fun to do. I need to use this lens a bit more. I think this would work well for tight facial beauty shots. I even have a Softar II (for MF Contax) which I used with another one of these for beauty shots when photographing brides for money. That filter special ordered from B&H cost more than a lot of used MF lenses

Funny story about these flowers - I've never realized that they grew on yellow poplars. Every once in a while I'd find a pile of these blossoms in the forest, strewn about an area, but I never knew they were coming from the trees as I'd never seen them actually blooming. I think the weather here makes them not bloom often, because I was shocked to find a tree in my front yard chock full of blooms a couple days ago - and I know for a fact it's never done that before! So I looked it up and it was just a yellow poplar, which is a tree I thought I knew well for the distinctive leaves. Anyway, I snipped a bloom on a branch and made this photograph.

Corran, I had one of those yellow poplar trees in my backyard and it bloomed every year. Maybe it just needs full sun. Squirrels used it to gain access to my roof and started nesting in the attic, so it had to come down.

Amaryllis bloomed this spring was able to capture them with 8x10 Kodak Ektar and X-Ray Film, very different results.

The trilliums are enjoying their glory days in the PNW, always loving the transition area between dark forest and open space. (I hope you can see them down there.) They seem to yearn for sun when in shadow, and seek shadow when in the sun. I've also noticed that inside most of them usually lives a menacing white or yellow spider, patiently waiting. Beauty and the beast. Probably a symbiotic friendship.

It occurred to me that natural selection probably explains the two spider colors. The white spiders blend with the petals; the yellow spiders blend with the pollen. Black, brown, or red spiders would probably starve and leave no children. Deep thoughts in a lonely forest.
