Price query regarding Kodak Ektacolour / Ektachrome, expired 1974

    Hi all,

I'm purchasing 40 sheets of Ektachrome (6115 & 6116) and 40 sheets of Ektacolour (6101 and 6102). The seller wants £56 for the lot. How does that sound, bearing in mind prices will possibly be inflated in the UK.

I might actually post an image in the new year!

    Best,

    Si

Well, the fun will be even bigger once you realise that the Ektachrome is E-3 film, and the Ektacolor will be C-22... :-)

    Uh-oh!

Google says that C22 was superseded in 1973 for all formats, so I might be lucky?!?

I've also come across this for E-3

This could be interesting..... and expensive perhaps?

Well, Google is wrong - E-3 and C-22 were around for sheet film for several years after E-6 and C-41 had taken over in roll film. 6101/6102 (i.e. Ektacolor S/L) had been around since the sixties and were C-22.

You can probably get sort of an image out of either, using the current processes with the colour developer replaced by a modified or DIY version - there are quite a few recipes out there for salvaging ancient colour films.
