Sounds like a 3 1/4 x 4 1/4, which used to be a common size. I have seen the film holders advertised, and you might find an older photographer who has some. It never were as popular as 4x5. I haven't seen film that size advertised for years.
Regards, Doug.
3 1/4 x 4 1/4 can be had here - never tried them myself though.

Philip... I was at Jack's Camera in Muncie, Indiana a few weeks ago and they had some used 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 film holders for sale in good condition. They are great people to deal with and have a website at jackscamera.com.
Finding a holder may not be a problem. Processing the film will be your biggest concern. You are going to need to cut down 4x5 sheet film to fit the holder. As for processing, you will either need to do it in a tray, by hand, or (if you are lucky) you can find a lab who has a roller transport processing machine (with the roller transport, you are taking a chance that the film will get stuck, or scratched).
