    imagekind

i have been marketed several times by imagekind.
they are a (digital) online promotional/marketing/gallery
that offers quality inkjet prints as well as custom
matting, framing - printing on canvas, gallery wrapping &C.
i know the images they offer aren't museum quality/archival
silver prints or anything like that ... but they offer a variety of papers, canvas
and they use ultrachrome inks ... they are upfront with costs and
allow each person to price their work as they want ...

is anyone presently selling prints through them?

    thanks!

it took 2 years but i have a few dozen images on their website.
it become part of café press since i first started this thread.

for reproductions ( priced inexpensively or expensively you pick )
(so far) it seems like a pretty good place to sell ...

But have you actually sold? how many and for what price for each size? What if any are the costs there to promote one single piece and how much did you recieve per sale?

    hi greg
the images just went up ..
the cost is less than 100$ / year ( or free whichever you choose )
    commission on framing &C. ( depending ... )
you can look at their faq you can see what the cost / print is ...

I took a quick look to compare it to SmugMug where I post a few images for fun. It doesn't seem to offer a private address. How do clients (easily) find you?

    hi wayne - -

they give you the web address to forward to people ...
google slurps them ... and there is a search bar there too

it is kind of nice because people can't get distracted
by someone else's stuff, the storefront is a freestanding kiosk so to speak

pay-accounts can be month to month or annual for a discounted rate.
free accounts don't get the storefront.

and they don't mind people saying
if you want a silver or lightjet print instead of an ultrachrome one, feel free to email me
and i will be able to sell you one of them instead ... ( outside their system )

So I guess like smugmug you have a direct address. Mines "mysite".smugmug.com. With the pro account you can lock it so people can't download hi-rez images and there's a million other features. You can use them as an image bank as well. They accept all kinds of files including TIff's. Right now I'm looking around to compare so I ask.

Anyone else here using something different?

Hi Greg, I thought I'd give a 13.5 year update : I've loved that place, had nothing to complain about. Until recently I had between 850 and 900 images on the site. I've sold quite a few "units" ( is that the right term ? ). I'm not going to post dollar amounts here, feel free to PM me or email me if you need to know... they offer a few sizes and do custom orders too. There isn't one size that I can say I have sold the most of, it's been a variety, so the price-per varies. The costs don't change but the markup does .. they let you mark up by % or dollar amount...

The cost to promote the work? It is my own feet pounding the pavement, and people finding me through word of mouth or recommendation. I don't hire a marketing consultant ... I probably should, I'm guessing I'd have even better sales if I did .

There are lots websites that offer a kiosk to put work up and sell but not geared towards professionals ... no don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with non-professionals, but I'd rather pay to play and not be drowning in a sea of 100,000people who might not charge for their work ( and 200,000,000 images on the site ) .
