Esmeralda County Courthouse, Goldfield Nevada & 3 Ancient B&L lenses!

For those of you who may enjoy a 10 minute voyage into the wonders of Central Nevada hinterlands, I've just put up a new page at my website with photos done last Friday Feb. 2 2007 in Goldfield Nevada at the Esmeralda County Courthouse.

I used 3 very vintage Bausch & Lomb product 1905 * lenses on my 1915 8X10 Korona.

Take a look and tell me what you thought. Love to hear your responses. Thanks!


*actually the lenses run from approx 1895 for the 10X12 ROC RR 15 3/8" to 1905 for the 10X12 Series V Protar, to perhaps 1925 for the 8X10 Protar. Educated guesses all.

Really nice photo's. I think some of these were on a thread you posted on the forum earlier?? They look familiar to me anyway.

I'm going to have to start saving so I can buy the next lenses you sell - you seem to pick up some really nice photo's with ease!

Beautiful work! I think you flatter your lenses - I suspect you would do just as well with modern glass.:-)

Jim, I have a sekonic 508 light meter I can loan you. It is my backup meter and I have trouble figuring the darn thing out. OK now you know I'm not into gizmos that have too many functions. BTW When you go to Esmerelda county next let me know. John R. and I will head over and meet you. We also have to get you back over here for Lund and other places. Hopefully I will be doing my first experiments with wet plate photography.....hint hint I know you know how to do that too.

Built and furnished in 1903, it has been in continuous
use ever since. Esmeralda County Nevada is very
poor. It is massive so there is a lot to maintain and
do, but there's no population to support it. Goldfield,
a near ghost, is it's biggest place! There are 3588 sq.
miles and about 1100 people! Mind boggling! There
are more people in Costco in So. Cal. on any given
saturday than one of the nations largest counties."
