I am looking for camera stores in Germany, France and Japan who sell lf cameras, lenses, etc. I do know there is a film sales company in Japan that sells lf film. Does anyone have contact info for these countries?

There are quite a few here in Japan, at least in the Tokyo area. I dont have time now, but I will send you a PM later with some information, have to get ready for work.

If it's for View Camera mag I assume you want to concentrate on places that sell new gear. There are some that have the focus, clientele and throughput to give you exposure. Gin-Ichi and Lemon in Ginza are my recommendations. Perhaps Shinbashi Camera too (now in Okachimachi).

GM Photo in Frankfurt and PPS in Hamburg are very good places catering for professionals. Also consider pro labs, here is a good sample list for Berlin.

In Japan you will need have to approach them in Japanese and preferably in person. You may wish to talk to Ebony or another maker for cooperation. It may be a win-win. Good luck.

In Japan...

I suggest large, multi-store photo/electronics retailers--Yodobashi Camera (http://www.yodobashi.com/) and Bic Camera (http://www.biccamera.com/). People (lots of them) go to these places to check out photo gear, buy films, and pick up magazines (assuming that's your purpose).

Next level would be larger regional retailers. Map Camera (http://www.mapcamera.com/top.php) is another higher-profile store in Tokyo in addition to Gin-Ichi (http://www.ginichi.com/) and Lemon Sha (http://www.lemonsha.com/).

Thanks for the information. We are expanding our circulation into Europe and Japan by two methods

1. Finding dealers in these countries to act as distributors for people who want a printed copy of View Camera..

2. By making each issue available as a PDF that can be downloaded by subscribers. This will less expensive for the subscribers. This system will be set up for the Jan/Feb07 issue.

I know nothing about publishing business, so these are just my "irresponsible" thoughts.

Maruzen (http://www.maruzen.co.jp/home-eng/index.html) is a bookstore traditionally known as an importer of foreign publications (and goods). Its retail outlets used to be the only practical option for me to get pubs like Macworld and Barron's standard test guides. Things should be different in this internet age, but Maruzen is one place I would go if I were looking for (or would expect to come across) specialized foreign magazines. Their Contacts page lists an address in NJ.

Also, one could order "Using the View Camera" through Amazon.co.jp, Seikyou (university co-op stores), Kinokuniya Bookstore (http://www.kinokuniya.co.jp/english/index.html), etc. Just in case you haven't explored, couldn't you leverage such distribution channels to get started or for additional exposure?
