Digital Darkroom Workshop

Christopher J Jordan and Karen Schlesinger will be presenting this weekend-long, information-packed workshop to jumpstart your digital imaging skills.
This workshop covers the basics of image processing and digital workflow with Photoshop CS2, including:

-Scanning basics
-Camera RAW processing
-Image Organization: How to use Adobe Bridge
-Basic color management: Color Space Profiles vs. Printer Profiles, monitor calibration
-Basic cleaning & retouching
-Basic tone & color adjustment
-Global vs. local adjustments
-Adjustment layers and blending modes
-Sharpening
-Printing basics: Print with Preview, tagging images w/ printer profiles, rendering intent, media settings
-Digital storage and archiving practices
-Considerations when purchasing equipment
-Artist Discussion: What It Took To Get The Art Looking Good
-The angels and devils of Photoshop toolbox

Participants should plan to bring their own negatives or slides up to 4" x 5", or their own digital files to work on during the course.

Each student will receive one high resolution scan and one large print of their own image as part of the workshop.

Extensive handouts, demos and hands-on instruction will be provided. There are no prerequistites for this course, although participants should have a basic familiarity with computers.

Although this class will take place at the Sage College of Albany, it is not sponsored by, accredited or affiliated with the college in any way.

Cost: $300, includes 1 print up to 20" x 30" and one high-resolution scan. Meals, travel expenses and lodging are not included.
