    Help with a 1920s Stand

I did something stupid and I'm hoping I could get some tech support. I recently acquired a 1920's Agfa camera stand. In order to get it through my studio door I had to take off the front wheel assembly. What I didn't realize was that everything was tensioned together and the camera platform came off.

I've got the frame back together but am now trying to figure out how to correctly get the camera platform back on the rails and threaded with the rack/gears that raise and lower the platform. This is the kind of stand I have (below). I would welcome suggestions.

I swear if it ever has to leave my studio I'm just going to carve a larger door frame.

Maybe if you show some close-up photos of what your having problems with we can help you?

Yes, it has a spring lock. I will get pictures when I'm there tomorrow. Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. They collectively helped me figure it out.

Just in case anyone else is ever in similar straits... I had to take the end-caps off the side rails in order to feed the camera platform back on. Additionally, things weren't lining up right between the camera platform and rails until I loosened the tension on the large spring attached to the wheel that controls the vertical height of the platform.

I overcame the lack of helpers with an .... ah, unconventional... combination of bungee cords, impromptu jacks to hold the frame at the right angle, and judicious use of a rubber mallet.

It's all back together and working. I now have a much deeper appreciation of how these old stands are tensioned together. I have learned from my error and swear never to take another one of these things apart.

P.S. Not sure why the first two images are rotated differently than they were saved.

    Congratulations!

    Looked you up

Very interested in everyone using the old ways

To stop the sideways pics run DIGI through an editor and save as

    I like old lenses
