I was "broke as a joke".
It's an expression...like " I'm so broke I can't even pay attention".
Not sure how Hurrell got wrapped up in my finances.

not sure about that but after Shemp Howard died and they had to make a bunch of shorts with Shemp spliced in there (from other shorts!) so they'd get paid, (they were the 3 Stooges not the 2 Stooges, ... there had to be 3 or they'd be in breech of contract and wouldn't get paid). it's funny people think all that is new today with all this photoshop wizardry and AI going on in Hollywood, The Stooges kind of invented it with the Fake Shemp .. Shemp was the real deal and gave Jimmy Stewart his first (uncredited) acting gig in 1934 too.
Just loaded my camera with film that shows use by December 2014.
It works as I bought a nice quantity with value price.

studio system ended 1950
Everyone from actors to directors were paid a salary instead of “per film,” along with having contracts.
at same time the use of expired film has become a critical business strategy online. WIth certain companies releasing odd lots of old expired film they purchase from abondoned wharehouses all over the world. People are suckers, and buy it up.
just got an email from film photography project about a new special product,,
they are handrolling up random short ends, 12 to 23 frames per roll, of various films the two they can actually identify are going to 12$ per roll, the unknown films are getting rolled onto "DX coded" cassettes, and being sold as unknown film, unknown if bw or color, unnown iso.
yet the "known" ones have sold out already, same day the email came out. Shows how stupid people are
