Total Solar Eclipse April 8 2024!

Nearly here, I moved to where I am for the last one

I took no pictures as I wanted to enjoy the entire event

    I even bought a 77mm Solar filter

This time I will use it

The cosmic oddity is, this Total exactly crosses the last one!

    Near me

Wow, it goes right over head!!! Last time a total solar eclipse came overhead where I was living was 1400 and 1800. I have never witnessed one! I hope it is not cloudy.

    Yes

    Lodging is the problem

It got very crazy here for a week before the last one

    Parking was nuts

I just tried my favorite place, they will not book until 1/1/2024

I had friends from France looking for perfect, the college used the football stadium, not so good

I had one visiter, we stayed in my yard, perfect view!

But clouds are very common here

could be better than the one a few years back. pick a road, any road and set up your camp chair. SWMBO is itching to see another so may head east but will be watching weather forecast and see where it's trending, but likely staying up here.

Re: Total Solar Eclipse April 8 2024!

We made “reservations” with friends in Ohio four years in advance for the 2024 event. We drove to Tennessee to see the 2017 eclipse; we were speechless. Totality of the 2024 one will be more than a minute longer than 2017; as always, weather is the wildcard.

There are some very lucky people in southern Illinois who live directly in the path of both. What are the odds of being able to sit on your front porch and see two total eclipses in seven years?

I bought this house 2 weeks before the last

but view was and is dimmed by street light, nonetheless it was very dark

    I almost shot them out

but my first goal is never go to jail

    so far so good

I am surrounded by police and jail guard friends

The USA and USSR swap prisoner was right here

all roads were jammed and will be again for many miles

some were charging $20 to park on county grass

my tricycle will be handy getting to DARK

Bryan is welcome and I have an eBike for you, tent on lawn

That map looks not too bad for me. Could be interesting.

I was thinking Sherbrooke, or even better, Notre-Dame-des-Bois, then hit Victoriaville or Drummondville for OG poutine
