    the question of the last 110 years

    they say not everyone with a piano is a pianist
    but is everyone with a camera a photographer ?

    what does it take to be a "photographer" in 2023? ...
    Lartrigue's grande prix in 1913 (and later) isn't much different than
    most of the instagram or Facebook uploads of today...

    who decides, art snobs, camera snobs, friends and families?
    purchased "likes" from troll farms? influencers?

    Anyone who plays a piano is a pianist. Anyone who takes pictures is a photographer. Etc.

    You buy a Camera, you are a photographer.

    You buy a Piano, you own a Piano.

    You bang on a piano, you're a pianist...but perhaps a totally untrained, unskilled, lacking any shred of talent, ear-damaging pianist. Same with pointing a camera somewhere.

    A line I heard a long time ago on a TV show was;

    "He's not a cameraman, he's a man with a camera"...

    How many angels can dance on the head of a pin is an old question

    but may actually mean something now

    since nothing exists except as energy

    kinda relates to my post today

    Re: the question of the last 110 years

    Anyone who captures an image with a camera or a smartphone is a photographer. And the sheer number of images produced guarantees that even some unskilled photographers will capture wonderful images. It makes me think of the old saying about an infinite number of monkeys at an infinite number of typewriters (update that to word processors) would eventually create a Shakespeare play.
