    5x7 Kodak 2D Back

I recently bought a Kodak 2-D 5x7 on eBay, but the back is missing. I’m working on plans to build one myself, and have a question: when designing the ground glass frame, do I need to make sure the ground glass will on the same plane that the sheet of film will occupy when the film holder is loaded for exposure?

Another question: does anyone by chance have a back that will fit lying around that needs some work that you’re willing to part with?

I’ve posted in a few Facebook groups, so apologies to those who may have already seen my request there.

Yes, your GG must be on the same plane as your film. How else will you focus?

FWIW: I am under the impression, and I could be wrong, that backs for Kodak 2D, Ansco and B&J are dimensionally interchangeable.

There are only three types of mounting flanges; too big, too small and wrong thread!

One could also buy a 5x7 back for an 8x10 and cut it down.

Registration shouldn't be a problem, as that is built into the back independently of the camera.
