Question Partial scientific camera with Zeiss Jena 165mm lens?

I was given what looks like a partial vintage Zeiss scientific camera, 8x10, with a Zeiss Jena 165mm lens.
It is partial: bellows+front standard+incomplete back, lens, no lensboard, rail/bed, or film holder/GG.

It took me a long time to discover what it was, by finding a matching picture:

(My lens is more modern than shown above)

    A few things:
    How were these operated?
Is it reasonable to think a graphic back could be grafted on it?
