Offer for sale photographic equipment both here and on other sites?

If this question has already been answered, as I figure it might have been, please direct me to the message or thread where the issue has been clarified.

Question is, briefly, is it acceptable to have items for sale at the same time both in the LF For Sale section of this site, and on another site? Thinking primarily of ebay.

Here is the relevant provision in the Forum guidelines:

• FS/FT listings may include links to images of the offered items that are hosted at a member's web space or a commercial image-hosting service. Links or references to sales listings at commercial sites (eBay, etc.) or other forums or venues are prohibited and may be removed without warning.

Relative to your question, what this means is that simultaneous listings elsewhere are allowed. However, the listings here must be independent and self-contained, meaning that they may not link to nor otherwise make reference to listings elsewhere.

Can the listing person put something like "item subject to prior sale" or something similar? Or is any reference forbidden?

"Item subject to prior sale" is OK. Note that we also have the following provision in the guidelines:

• Sellers have the right to do business with whomever they please.

One implication is that posting an item here does not impose an obligation to sell here nor to accept any particular offer that is made here.

If you do sell an item elsewhere, as a courtesy please close the listing here.
