Another Chicago friend and wacko just passed. RIP

This guy a Punk nightclub DJ for decades

He always walked to all locations in city

    Never a car or bike

I was so pissed after a divorce in the Loop, I walked to Evanston in cowboy boots

I live in Iowa City, pretty interesting place. Re Indiana, Evansville, in Southern Indiana is a very interesting place, lots of history, made ships, planes guns, automobiles for WWII, on the Ohio River, fascinating place.

Why not include Eldon and Winterset, Iowa. First has the house that Grant Woods American Gothic painting featured. Second is John Wayne's Birthplace and home of Bridges of Madison County. You saw some of it in the movie which starred Clint Eastwood.

Wherever you go drive the back roads. Small two lane highways and rural roads. You will find a lot of stuff to photograph that most never visit. Eat at local diners and restaurants and stop at country stores. Stay at the small Motels along the way. A lot to see and never enough time.

    Willie has good advice

It is how I vacation. Buy gas at the smallest station, say hello. Ask directions to the oldest hotel.

Find Supper Clubs and eat there, Wisconsin uses that code

    Drive old river roads

Get a hotel by 2 pm, only drive 4 hours

1975 I rode my new Sportster, Chicago around Lake Michigan and Lake Superior, doing exactly that. 200 miles a day

Thunder Bay has a great old railroad hotel

I was there on trip 2 for 9/11

I almost never went home, as I had my Airstream...
