Tachihara 11x14 holders? Any reviews? Any comments? Why so expensive?

I am thinking of purchasing new 11x14 holders for my Wisner 11x14. But the Tachihara are so expensive. I mean they re gorgeous and wonderful, But the price is shocking. Why are they so expensive ? are they worth the price?

I made a simple 11X14 film holder years ago and documented it in DIY
Black Matt Board to any size, no complication

Double stick tape, with clear plastic a bit thicker than film to fit the Dims outside

Another piece of same tape and same plastic overlapping the first rail for film containment

    Covered with Black Gaff Tape

No DS need on my setup

Made it twice, first was 10X16 with 2 pieces of 8X10

    I prefer 11X14

    It works very smoothly

    Dark Slide could be stacked

I had some Tachihara 11x14 holders for a while. They were nicely made, but the septum seemed spring-loaded, requiring downward pressure on the film during insertion. The required combination action of threading such a large and floppy sheet of film under the retaining flanges in the dark and sliding the film in while exerting downward pressure made loading a royal pain. I sold the Tachiharas and now have a mix of Fidelity and S&S holders in that size.

They get the dimensions wrong and then the holders will not fit or will fail or the film plane is not aligned in focus.

If you got the money honey and the time

I installed my simple and cheap DIY into free 12X15" Copy Camera holders. of course I used the free camera too

It is heavy as can be, but very good for some things
