    Very, very large tripod...

Do you think one could setup a tripod like this in the United States and not have the police alerted a few minutes?

Not police but a building inspector would want to see a permit.

Close up and typical image (for those that are not familiar with the work of Massimo Vitali)

I dunno about a tripod, but using a scissor lift or cherry picker, sure. Especially if you don an orange reflective vest, hardhat and similar accoutrements.

What do you think, a crew of three to operate that one? I must lack imagination, I never thought of that kind of setup before.

    Re: Very, very large tripod...

Prefer my own tripod, and own Phillips 8x10 shots. But that setup is tiny compared to what some of the 18th frontier photographers used. One had a crew which had to build a scaffold for each shot. I seen a picture of it, along with modern 6 ft wide contact prints made from the few surviving negatives.

At least Massimo was above the Hurricane/Supermoon tidal surge height. Maybe that was the point. But I was under the impression he sometimes shot 11X14 color (still bigger tripod?).
