    Recommendation Needed: Copal 1 repair

    Hey Friends,

I have a Copal No. 1 shutter that will not fire. I took it apart and there is one of the tiny...TINY springs near the cable release that has been detached. I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a reputable service shop. Time is not of the essence. I have some G-Claron 240 cells mounted to it and would like to try to use it. Buying another shutter with cells already on it seems excessive...however...I suppose that could change depending on how much it would cost to get it repaired.

TLDR: Need recommendation for Copal No. 1 large format shutter repair.

Try contacting Carol at Flutot's Camera.
She has done great work for me.
She usually has a waiting list.

Michael Zacks of Zacks Camera Repair: https://zackscamerarepair.com has done a Supermatic and a No. 1 Synchro-Compur for me. He responds quickly to emails. If he's backed up he will suggest you wait to send something in.

A couple of months ago I asked if it was a good time to send a shutter in; he asked I wait about a week so I sent it elsewhere, "elsewhere" still has it. A week or so later I sent him another shutter which I have since gotten back fixed.

    Gotta send "elsewhere" another inquiry

Like you, Michael is on the eastern seaboard.
