I need a changing tent or large box-bag for loading 4x5 film.
Any of you have experience with the Chinese options popular at ebay?
I saw some old Harrison, too, but they are too old and may not hold much longer.
    Any suggestions or advice?
    Thanks
I have 2 tents from eBay, one for 4x5 and one for 8x10 similar to these:

and I also own a Harrison one — the jumbo.

I’ve had them for years and can’t say one is better than the other. They’re all good, they haven’t let me down — and I’ve done a lot of film changing in the car in the middle of the day.

Evolved for me to adapt one of those wire file hanging racks from a file cabinet drawer... The pointy ends were made dull to prevent damaging bag... They collapse flat, and there is more room in the bag as the supports are slender, and the right size for a large bag... I can load 8X10 easily in mine...

Thank you very much. That exactly answers my question.

What a wonderful suggestion. I like how the evolution is turning out. If I could sew, I will definitively follow this route by making a large bag matching the convenience of the bag with the hollowness of a tent. Thanks.

Look for a Technicolor changing bag, the kind used by the motion picture industry.
They're stiff enough to stand up on their own.

I was looking for something similar to what I had (large bag)..... it's made quite well....v. nice & durable material. I've only used once so far. If you get such it works best with installing some sort of internal frame to separate the bottom from top, which will give you space to work inside.

...almost seems like there should be an aftermarket wire (or CF tube - yeah!) collapsible frame for existing changing bags - but likely not enough potential sales numbers to make that worthwhile.

I'm looking at this with a potential fix, John. Found these triangular corner fittings and lightweight replacement tent poles (fiberglass) 7.5-8mm may do the job.....or some trimming/fitting may be necessary to fit properly. Too bad I'm not anywhere near REI....they carry the chord and various tent poles, tho Amazon may help in this too. Cabella's ?

...maybe connect with Richard Ritter to see where he gets his carbon tubes?
