    locking knob on GT3542LS/3543LS's collar

I have a GT3541LS, I don't plan to upgrade to 3542 or 3543, however, I really like the locking knob on the Collar, since I have a few different option for my tripod head setup. 1. Bowl, 2, an adapter for Ries, 3, regular top plate with ball head. The locking knob will allow me to quick swap between these options.
Does anyone know if the locking knob can be used on the 3541 tripod collar?
The part number for the knob is D0806.01. Locking knob.
The corresponding screw on the 3541LS is D4040.95. Spindle

I have a new and an old Gitzo tripod, both series 5. The locking mechanism doesn't look interchangeable.

The new one has a special stud sticking out from one side of the locking mechanism, extending through the second side with an exposed nut and then into the spring-loaded lever. The two sides of the old locking mechanism are wider and the stud from the new mechanism would be too short.

Hopefully the attached pictures can be viewed.

That is very helpful. I guess the second best solution is that I should keep the leveling base with stud, mount the Ries or ball head on the leveling base with stud and , swapping leveling base with quicklock and leveling base with stud can be done quickly with the bowl locked on to the tripod collar.
