It is thinner than 8x10 HP5+ or 8x10 Ilford Commercial Ortho (shoot both), don't know about rpx25 and Ilford Infared. It has some natural curl, as you can see here. Seems very flat in my olde 18x24cm Sinar Norma film holders, as you can also see here. Tests forthcoming as I have time. I don't believe flatness will be an issue for me from what I can see so far

    Test photos here from Flikr:

Rollei marketed this film as Rollei 400s. Actual speed is about 100 without filters. Rollei 400s = Agfa Aviphot 200, that is well accepted. Same same

Re: 24cm X 76 meters of Agfa Aviphot 200 has arrived

i have used this film (RR400/superpan/rollei IR) a lot in 120 and 35mm so I'm familiar with it. just thought it would be a great way to shoot some high quality 4x5 film on the cheap. lot of cutting to get down to 4x5, but if my math is right, works out to under $11 for a box of 50 sheets in 4x5. lots of cutting though.......

the RPX 25 and rollei IR in 4x5 are the same thickness as the 35mm film, so very thin. could be t pan 200 PE 00 which is thinner than the PE 01 you have.

    thanks for the reply

I'll also cut it down to 4x5 and 5x7. Maybe 9x12 and 13x18 too. Easy with do my big Rototrimmer.

Also I did buy a hundred sheets of 9x12cm from the Guy in Russia who was custom cutting and selling it on Ebay. Bought that before I discovered these big rolls. If this works out I will prolly buy another. Doubtful it will ever be cheaper that this

thanks! I agree its not gonna get any cheaper. no notch code, but it looks like the film has a curl up on the emulsion side. is that how you judge loading them in holders?

I also have a large rototrimmer so why not use it a little more?

When I put the flap down in my Norma 18x24 holders, it seems to "clamp" the sheet down somewhat. No curl I can see, but I haven't tested it yet. Been very busy but it is on my to-do list.

Regarding lack of notches, I just clip off the corner with a pair of scissors. I keep the scissors in my back pocket, so I don't hurt myself in the dark LOL

Heres what the Guy in Russia sent me. 102 sheets of 9x12cm plus test prints and a negative. I think he used D76 if I remember correctly. Looks good to me!

Oh Yes, a fellow on Flickr contacted me on Flikr, he bought the big roll too, and he LOVES it. Using it for 8x10 Astronomy Photography, he tells me. So I'm very hopeful this will work just great.

No issues with flatness@ f22. Which is what I mostly use. It’s about 298 sheets for 8x10. Per roll.

Re: 24cm X 76 meters of Agfa Aviphot 200 has arrived

In my case it's $242.75 + tax for a roll. I want 18x24cm sheets, I can get 422 sheets from 76 meters. So it works out to about roughly sixty cents per 18x24cm sheet. Jim Galli seems to think it's OK to use, I have not had time to test mine yet. But I will soon. If I like it I will prolly buy another roll. IMO it will never be cheaper than this

I already shoot this film in perforated 70mm in my Blads. PhotoImpex in Germany had hundreds and hundreds of fresh rolls for sale so I loaded up.

Anybody using this film should read this uber long thread from over on phototrio.

    https://www.photrio.com/forum/thread...an-200.182434/

What looks most promising to me (taming the high contrast) is the MECD4 color developer formulation, which seems to flatten the film curve significantly. I obtained some MECD4 can will be reporting here and there. Good times ahead I think So I'm thinking homemixed MECD4 for 8x10/18x24 on down. The Guy in Mumbai has this in 70mm if anybody here wants any. All you need is a 70mm A70 Hasselblad back, or a Graflex RH-50 6x7 back to get going with this.

This is Rollei 400s (Agfa Aviphot 200) in type II perforated 70mm long roll, processed in Rollei Supergrain (available at Freestyle). This is one of the developers recommended by Rollei for this film. Works good!

Re: 24cm X 76 meters of Agfa Aviphot 200 has arrived

I repeat the MeCD4 formula here:
    Bath A
    Metol...............................1g
    Sodium Sulfite anh..........35g
    Color developer CD-4......4g
    Sodium Metabisulfite........1g
    Water to............................1L

    Bath B
    Sodium Sulfite anh............35g
    Sodium Carbonate anh......30g
    Water to..............................1L

Develop 3m +3m 25C, correct the time for other temperatures, I use the Ilfordphoto chart.
Agitate in Bath A 2 inversions every 30s
Agitate in Bath B 2 inversions at start and 2 inversions at half time only.

MeCD4 flattens the S curve of the Aviphot films to some extent giving EI=200 for Aviphot 200 and EI=80 for Aviphot 80.
CD-4 appears generally the least likely of the CD series but it may cause an allergic reaction in some individuals.

How have you been cutting it down to size? What are your “secrets” and tips to a newbie? I have a roll of the stuff and haven’t found a good reliable way or set up to do it.
    Thx!
