    150 G Claron 4x10 ?

I asked this question a few years ago and nobody chimed in on whether it would work or not. Having some long expired film, I tried it out.

At infinity, stopped down to f:32, straight on with no movements, it does. Illumination is quite even and sharpness in the corners adequate for anything I can print off a 4X10 negative. I seriously doubt it would work with even a 1/2" of rise.

4x10" (95x245mm) diagonal should be 263mm. I don't have a 150mm G-Claron but from my experience with the 210mm and 355mm ones I came to conclusion that Plasmat-type G-Clarons cover 78°; at small f-stops, all the illuminated field is sharp, and mechanical vigneting is the only coverage limit. According to Schneider, the "150" is actually 151.2mm; that means only 245mm coverage for the 78° angle.

Is your G-Claron of the Dagor type?

Thanks a good observation. 4x10 really seems like an interesting format in that you can use lighter weight lenses and filmholders but still get an impressive contact print. And G-Claron Dagor types seem pretty rare I spent a while trying to find one once and gave up, perhaps few are available for sale these days after the secret got out.

It is not a Dagor type.
