5 inch Kodak Aero 2402 Plus-X cut down to 4x5. Plaubel Makiflex, Linhof Glass Plate Holder, ADOX Borax MQ developer just mixed up, 8x10 Arista #2 RC print. Omega DII laser aligned with 180mm black Rodagon, Multigrade developer. This 2x3 240mm Tele-Xenar I have not used much at all. F5.6 or F8 so not much DOF in this closeup. Next I will try D23 1:1 as I know that works well with 2402

OK now I am drying some 2402 I have cut down to 5x7 and shot in Lisco holders in one of my 5x7 Normas. I'm at the same time I'm testing my new olde newly CLA'ed Schneider 500mm f5.5 Tele-Xenar in Compound #5, shooting a test still life at F22 and F32. My normal Broncolor Kelly Portrait lighting, and developing two sheets of 5x7, loaded into a Unicolor 8x10 Unidrum II spinning on a Uniroller. Developed in D23 1:1 sixteen minutes at 68F. Kinda long dev but I like beefy negs. Negs look fantastic from this run. The "Poor Man's JOBO" comes through again. This is going to work bigtime. I am excited by these results. BTW my 500 Tele-Xenar used close-up looks sharp as a razor to me, (as it did on the ground glass). Will contact print these and will post results here soon. I am stoked. Kinda wish the Guy in Mumbai had more of this, I'd buy a second can

Here's one. The 500mm F5.5 Schneider Tele-Xenar is sharp as a tack close-up at F32. I also shot two more at F22, will develop those for a bit less than these. Very encouraging results. Large format Bulk Film, about as cheap as it gets. This is from a 350 foot roll so I have quite a bit

Do need to be a bit more careful cutting it precisely in the dark with my biggie Rototrim rotary cutter. Which is no big deal to me.

"Great looking neg. I'd have been all over that 5" stuff because of the #5 Cirkut but I don't want to deal with the perfs so sat on my hands. Both the Aviphot and the Kodak had the perfs. BTW never needed to clip the corners because the stuff curls into the emulsion enough that even in the dark there's no wondering which side is which. The AviPhot is less so than the Kodak. Almost lays flat. So make everybody nuts . . . how much is each 5X7 neg costing you?? Part of the fun is bragging rights."

Per Jim's request, here is the breakdown.....

A 5x7 sheet final cost 35 cents each. I can get 600 5x7s from a 350 foot roll.

A 4x5 sheet final cost 20 cents each. I can get 1,050 4x5s from a 350 foot roll.

Kodak Aerographic Five Inch Plus-X cut seven inches, to fit a 5x7 Lisco Holder. 5x7 Sinar Norma with my newly CLA'ed Schneider 500mm Tele Xenar at F22. Hasselblad 40mm Distagon Yellow Filter jammed inside the lenshood, it fits! D23 1:1 8x10 Unidrum on Uniroller. 5x7 Contact Print on Arista #2 RC Dektol 1:2 The Tele-Xenar is quite sharp up front as you can see. I'm liking this film for 5x7, but I can also cut it to 4x5 or even 9x12cm. Like the tonality you get with the Aerial emulsion.

Tim Kelly Inspired portrait lighting; Broncolor Balloon 90 degrees left, lighting the entire set. Main light Broncolor C171 Monolight Pulsoflex Softbox, one stop brighter than the fill, 45 left to the set. Just out of camera shot 45 right, is a foamcore freestanding panel for passive fill. Finally, the creme on the sundae, is Broncolor C70 Monolight with Snoot and Handmade Grid from an olde Broncolor Honeycomb. Selecting lighting a small portion of the background. Second set of 5x7 2402 Kodak Plus-X Aerographic, loaded into Lisco film holders. Exposed in 5x7 Sinar Norma with Schneider 500mm Tele-Xenar in Compound 5 shutter, freshly overhauled by Mac at Camtronics. Tim Kelly style Broncolor Portrait lighting, exposure at F16 and F22, Developed in Unicolor 8x10 Unidrum, HC-110 "H" dilution 9 1/2 mins at 68F. Unicolor Uniroller spins the Unidrum. I think F16 came out quite well. Need to load some more of this up for additional testing. I like the tonality and the way the Aerographic sees through the Yellow Filter. Will contact print these up as I have time

This is the Fiskar Cutter Jim Galli directed me to. Bought cheaply on Ebay, got four new 45mm blades at the local fabric store. Great cutter! I see why he likes it! Here is my cutting setup, set up for cutting 18x24cm sheets from the huge roll of 24cm Agfa Aviphot. Same emulsion as Rollei 400s, basically. Identical if not the same. Has some slight Infared effect that is very pleasing. I've been shooting this film as Rollei 400s in fresh 70mm, and I like it. Between the Mammo Film, Agfa Aviphot, and Fuji HRU I am all set for 8x10 size shoots. Something I can do in winter times. I have eight 18x24cm original olde wooden Sinar Film Holders that are perfect for shooting this stuff. If I contact print on 8x10 paper, it makes a nice wide black border that I like. Of course I have to spin the plastic cylinder of film so it is oriented for easy cutting. I will set up some wooden stops to hold the biggie roll so it doesn't slide around in the dark. That's about it for now

Jim further suggested putting the biggie roll of film in a tray. Got plenty of Patersons

In the LFF classifieds, there is a Guy selling 24cm X 38.1 meters of Plus-X 2402 Aerographic. I'm buying a roll to try, he says he has more.

I figure I can get 211 18x24cm sheets from a roll, cost (less shipping) about 47 cents a sheet. Not a bad deal.

Good to have this available to me for 8x10 sheets, as well as 18x24cm
