It might be more interesting to discuss this quote (but there is no camera ad to go with it):
“I believe that photographs actually rob all of us of our memory.”
― Sally Mann, Hold Still: A Memoir with Photographs
Ain't that the truth!

If you’re suggesting she would give me some sort of verbal smackdown, why? I didn’t comment on Sally Mann at all. She’s a terrific photographer in my opinion, not that it would matter what I think either way. What I meant is the statement being attributed to her is fairly clear, is an opinion, and that this thread is flame bait.
Photography in a way does remove our ability to memorize or remember experiences.
It's like my GPS navigation system. When I use it, I can't remember how to re navigate without it. I rely on it too much. In the old days without GPS, the second time you did a navigation you be able to do it with your memory.
Not anymore.

I've seen numerous images of her working with an 8x10 Toyo, and even read at least one interview about it; recall seeing a TV feature showing that camera too. I don't know about "brave". Perhaps foolish nerve or irresponsible exploitation; but I prefer not to go any further down that rabbit hole of discussion. Controversy comes with the territory, and it's probably all been said before anyway. No sense re-litigating it. She did have exceptional visual skill, and in my opinion, large format was the right tool for her; I think we can all agree about that.
